As many of you know, I am an Audio Production major at Minnesota State University – Moorhead. I am in my final year and plan to take full advantage of the equipment and opportunities provided to me from the school.
There are a certain set of ethics and rules that come with posting your music online – especially when it comes to doing covers of other artist’s songs. Many artists do not mind if you do covers of there songs, as long as you are not making profit off of them. If you are, you are required to purchase something called a compulsory license.
Also, if you are creating original material and not copyrighting it, others can steal it in its entirety and not have any repercussions. You need to be smart about what you are posting and who you are allowing to view/listen to it.
I plan on doing three projects this semester in my Advanced Studio Projects class. Those include:
- The Flute Song by Russ (Cover)
- With You by Chris Brown (Cover)
- And a Original title “Mental Health”
I’m excited to get started on these projects and will keep you updated as I move forward with them.
If you have any suggestions for blog ideas or questions for me, feel free to contact me by any means necessary.
Thanks,
Jay
